Prevents you from overcoming your insecurities, prevents you from trusting in others, and prevents you from being willing to become vulnerable in order to grow.

Prevents you from being willing to let go of old habits or ways of thinking in order to change.

Makes you resistant to all offers of help from others.

Terrifies you and makes you unwilling to venture out into the world, making you a prisoner in your home.

Stifles your motivation to pursue an education or a career.

Keeps you locked in self-destructive behavior.

Prevents you from believing in your chances to become a fully functioning, healthy individual.

Fear can be the reason why you find yourself stuck in old ways of acting and believing.

Fear can be the roadblock to change and growth.

Fear also;

Binds, holds down, hold back, destroys, corrupts, stifles, brings shame, kills, weakens, grips emotions and squeezes them beyond recognition, lies, distorts, hates, and controls the mind.

Fear is not of God. Reading in I John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love”.

II Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Fear is the gas that fuels weaknesses. It ignites when you over-indulge yourself. When you open yourself up it will take total control. Just like when you open yourself up to love, it can take control. When you operate from fear, you will ultimately be destroyed. When you operate from love, you will live and grow abundantly.

Other Things That Prevent Growth:

1. I’m afraid to hurt their feelings

2. I’m afraid to leave.

3. I’m afraid to stay.

4. I’m afraid of rejection.

5. I’m afraid to be alone.

6. I’m afraid to change.

7. I’m afraid of success.

8. I’m afraid of being poor.

9. I’m afraid of getting older.

10. I’m afraid of getting sick.

11. I’m afraid of being with someone of good standing.

12. I'm afraid of having the best.

13. I’m afraid to say what I really mean.

14. I’m afraid to tell them how I really feel.

15. I’m afraid to learn how to do it a new way or another way.

16. I’m afraid of letting people down.

17. I’m afraid you won’t like me.

18. I’m afraid of the dark.

19. I’m afraid of certain cultures.

20. I’m afraid of being corrected.

21. I’m afraid of losing out.

Finally, the first people who are mentioned in the book of Revelation 21:8 who will have their part in the lake of fire are the “fearful”.

Revelation 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death”.

Fears can be turned to Faith. You must allow God to clear your paths of fears. Fear is the expectation that something might go wrong, or is bad, or is negative. Most fears are only in your mind, because they are anticipated. Although something may have happened in the past that produced a negative result, it does not mean that it will happen every time.

You open yourself up to abuse when you fear. Fear is the gun that your enemy loads with bullets of torment, poison, hate, jealousy, envy, mistrust, anger, rage, imbalance, confusion, insecurity, slothfulness, procrastination, mediocrity, stubbornness, turmoil, deceit, …all those things that oppose God. Then he uses it on you to hurt you and others.

Conquer fear by identifying it, calling it what it is and sending it back where it came from (it’s of the devil)…casting it out of your imagination. Your thoughts can be stronger than you when you feed them. That is why the Apostle Paul stated in Philippians 4:8 it reads “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Forgive those who created the world of fear for you. Each day you rise; repeat this scripture found in Psalms 56:11 “In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me”.
